Hello
Richard, I am a
lurker on harp, and always enjoy your informative
posts. I just got a Boss BF-2 Flanger on eBay, and
hoped you could recommend some settings. Thank
you, Bill
Hello
Bill, The first
thing to note about the Boss BF-2 is that you
should use it in conjunction with a vocal-type mic
such as a Shure SM-58, as opposed to a Green
Bullet, Astatic JT-30, Ruskin, etc. Blues mics
don't have a wide enough frequency response to
bring out the best in the flanger. I've used a
variety of settings with good results, and I
recommend that you experiment. A good setting to
start with is manual at 10 o'clock, depth and rate
straight up, and res at 2 o'clock. This gives an
effect like a Leslie speaker in slow rotation, and
is great for big, slow chords. Increasing the rate
will introduce a faster, more vibrato-like sound.
Have fun.
This is one of my favorite effects devices.
